Today, the Earth will orbit 93 million miles from the Sun – Any closer it would be a fireball. Any further away It would be a block of Ice. Today your heart will pump 2,000 gallons of blood through 60,000 miles of blood vessels. In 103,600 beats. today, plants will breathe carbon dioxide – not oxygen. If they stop, you will be dead in five minutes.
Where did all these natural wonders come from? Bang – they happened! Or did God create them?
Where did the moon and 200 billion billion stars originate? Where did the human eye learn to distinguish 8,000 shades of colour and the nose learn 4,000 different scents? Since all books have authors and all paintings have artists, it must also be true that something “caused” our beautiful and complex universe. But was this “cause” a Big Bang” or God? In a car, about 20,000 parts make it function. Obviously, the “cause” of each car is an intelligent designer and manufacturer. The human body has 75 trillion cells including 20 square feet of skin cells alone! Isn’t it logical then, that an intelligent “Great Designer” has made us?
Besides nature around us, consider that everyone holds the same basic moral code. We all expect people NOT to cheat, steal, or assault us? We can easily detect when others break these rules and we have all experienced a guilty conscience when we have violated them ourselves. Traffic rules are established by lawmakers. For example, at junctions we all stop at red lights and go by green lights. We are obeying laws established by our governments. In the same way, because people all over the world respond to a common moral code, we have evidence for a “Supreme Lawmaker” – Almighty God.
If we want to learn about someone famous, we read about him in an accurate, trustworthy book. Tested over centuries and proven 100 percent accurate in its predictions, the Bible tells us about God. It says that God is holy and that we are accountable to Him. Like our consciences, the Bible tells us we have failed and are guilty of breaking God’s universal laws.
The best evidence for God would be to see Him. About A.D. 30, a man proclaimed He was God. We must take Him seriously because He publicly performed miracles only God could do. The ultimate evidence would be to die and come back to life again. Jesus did! Jesus claimed to be God, performed miracles, rose from the dead and was repeatedly seen by many reliable witnesses.
The evidence and reasons to believe that there is a God are overwhelming. It is no wonder the Bible says that it is “a fool” who says “There is no God!” We are accountable to our God for violating His universal laws. In order to save us from punishment for our sin, Jesus the Savior became accountable for sin on the cross. The Bible says we can be safe from punishment, because, “Christ also hath once suffered for sins the just for the unjust that He might bring us unto God.” (1 Peter 3:1)
