Regular Weekly Gatherings:
The first meeting of the church in the week is one the Lord introduced before His death; He told his disciples to remember Him by partaking of bread and wine as symbols of His body and blood.
Following the teaching of the Lord and the example of the Apostles, we meet weekly to remember the Lord Jesus and His death. The first hour of the meeting is for worship and congregational singing. Without prearrangement, the meeting is open for brothers in church fellowship to stand and lead the congregation in praise and worship of Christ for His person and work at the cross.
The worship is followed by the taking of the bread and wine by members of the church. All are most welcome to witness the church carry out this important ordinance that the Lord Jesus himself commanded.
A brief Bible message and announcements of future activities conclude the meeting.
Young people from ages 3 to young adult are the focus of this program. After a time of group singing and activities, the children are divided into classes where they are taught a broad range of stories and principles from the Bible. Our teachers also sponsor several special events through the year, including the annual Sunday School picnic.
This meeting is held in the upstairs prayer room concurrent with the Sunday School. It is for adult Bible teaching. Gifted teachers speak on a variety of Bible topics and passages with a view to instructing, encouraging and strengthening believers.
The gospel we preach is that “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). At the gospel meeting, held in the main auditorium, men preach from a variety of Bible texts. After a time of congregational singing, they present a clear message about God’s way of salvation in Christ. In this meeting, we emphasise the Bible’s call to repent from sin and personally trust in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.
This meeting is divided into two equal sections: the first for prayer and the latter for systematic Bible teaching. Books of the Bible are studied chapter by chapter. The Bible study is opened with an overview of the section, followed by exposition and practical application.
Annual Special Events:
Three times in a year, usually in the spring and summer time, there are special weeks of dedicated children’s meetings held in the gospel hall. Children’s choruses are sung, scripture verses learnt and messages from the Bible are given each night. Parents are always invited to attend on the final evening. In June, a Children’s Bible Tent is pitched for one of these weeks with ice cream each evening and a summer BBQ to finish on the last night. Details for 2024 will follow nearer the time.
For the past number of years, we have convened an annual bible teaching weekend in June where an invited speaker comes and ministers the word of God over 4 sessions of the weekend. Details for 2024 are coming soon.
In the will of God, we are looking forward to evangelists Willie Fenton and Jonathan Black joining us for a month of gospel meetings in the Ballymoney Town Hall. Details will follow nearer the time.
